Oxjam, the biggest music festival in the UK, is a festival with a difference: thousands of events put on by music lovers from large-scale festivals to local sponsored busks throughout October. taking over stages, back rooms and street corners to make music and raise money for Oxfam with gigs, DJ sets, busks and much more.

Throughout October, more than 800 venues, 6,000 volunteers, 6,000 musicians and 180,000 audience members will enable Oxjam to raise at least £400,000 for Oxfam’s important work around the world.

Since 2006, more than 50,000 musicians have played to an audience of more than 1,200,000 people at over 4,000 Oxjam events, raising in excess of £2 million to fight poverty around the world.

On Saturday, 17th October around 60 Oxjam Takeovers are taking place across the UK on the same day making it the largest charity music festival in the UK.

Line-up

There are hundreds of music events across the country put on by volunteers with a passion for music, all raising money for charity. Throughout October, more than 800 venues, 6,000 volunteers, 5,500 musicians and 180,000 audience members will help Oxjam to raise at least £350,000 for Oxfam's important work around the world.

Oxjam Reading Music Takeover will be running a number of events in the Reading area including the formal launch on Sunday, September 20 at the Purple Turtle where John Otway will be compering the event. Tickets for this event are available online for £6 or £7 on the door.

The main Oxjam Reading event will take place on Saturday, 17th October, in ten venues across Reading. Early bird tickets cost £11 with full-price tickets costing £15.

The Oxjam Edinburgh Takeover event will take place on Saturday, 17th October from 7.00pm till the wee small hours at venues including City Café, Cabaret Voltaire, Brew Dog, The Mash House, and Paradise Palms and includes bands such as Monticule, Supa and Da Kryptonites, Urvanovic featuring Tin derbox Orchestra, Mellow Chants, The Valkarys, The Matatunes, The Claramassa and David Luhanga aka Street Rat.

Oxjam Stirling Music Festival will take place on Saturday, 17th October and sees over 20 local acts playing live music over 5 venues in Stirling, Scotland, including The Settle Inn, The Kilted Kangaroo, Nicky Tams, Mediterranea, Darnley Coffee House. Venues include The Settle Inn, The Kilted Kangaroo, Nicky Tams, Mediterranea, Darnley Coffee House. Wristbands for entry to all venues are £10 and include a free meal at Darnley Coffee House if purchased in advance.
