THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
Beacons Festival has been cancelled.

A statement from the organisers says:

"We would like to thank everyone for making the Beacons gigs this weekend such a success. The response has been overwhelming and your messages of support have been very uplifting and inspiring these past few days.

As an independently financed festival we were devastated that our very first Beacons had to be cancelled. Events have been run successfully on this site for many years, however as you can see from the photographs posted on Facebook, the site was hit with a considerable amount of water due to a flash flood. This made the site and surrounding area extremely dangerous in a very short space of time.

We have dedicated the past year to making sure this was one of the best festivals in the north and we have to thank all the production crew, volunteers, booking agents, artists and the local authority for all their help. And of course your ongoing support in making this first Beacons Festival a near sell out.

We are now dedicating our time in making sure everyone receives a full refund as soon as possible. We are contacting all ticket holders who have purchased tickets through our website directly. For all other ticket holders please contact your ticket seller who will issue a full refund.

We are currently looking at new sites for next year and want to thank people who have offered space. Rest assured there will be a Beacons Festival in 2012...

Again, thank you all for your support.

Lucy, John, Dan, Ash and all at the Beacons Festival team
."
