Saturday overview

Isle of Wight Festival 2005

By eFestivals Newsroom | Published:

Sunshine greeted us on Saturday and as the temperature rose people gathered in the arena and playing fields before two local bands - Los Fantasmas and The Jackson Analogue kicked things off, with Radio 2 favourite Tara Blaise and heavy rockers Nine Black Alps following on.

Ray Davies got the large crowd up and singing along with Kinks' classics before Babyshambles and the Goldie Lookin' Chain entertained us too. With clear skys persisting, sunburn and suncream accompanied Feeder's sing-a-long set of upbeat numbers.

Roxy Music played an accomplished performance and their selection of early material suited the twilight slot, which just left Travis to delight us, and for lead-singer Fran to forget his lines often ... but we didn't mind, his charm carried them thru it.

With other entertainment thru the day at the various bars and the extreme village, and with latenight entertainment at the Bollywood Bar, everyone left happy.

They'll be full reviews as well as fantastic exclusive photos online next week. We could give them to you now, but we'd much rather be having fun – as it should be, we're out-front enjoying the festival to the full.
