The Charlatans review

Isle of Wight Rock Festival 2004

By Scott Williams | Published:

Okay so it’s been a great festival and the Charlatans are polished lively and have a bag of good tunes. Their tunes are great in one song I manage to dance through the crowd from the stage to the back and back again.

They are true holders of the flame of Eighties sound and it’s great. Too few bands make this sound now. At this point I could name tracks but I can’t cos I’m dancing through it all it’s all their greatest hits anyway and it’s all, I assure you fabulous.

At one point I remember him dedicating a song with a harmonica intro to Bob Dylan and in a funny quirk the screens go blank, too fill you in Dylan allows no big screens when he plays.

The Charlatans

The fact we have scored ripples through the crowd and everyone goes mental. Now we don’t stop. He brings out the Libs geezer to apologise for not playing but we don’t care we’re up for the footie now.

The Charlatans are at the tops of their game and on the strength of this they are one of the legendary bands on the circuit. Lets hope they keep going forever.
