Glastonbury Fringe 2013

After it's first successful year the Glastonbury Fringe returns to take place over 11 days from Friday 21st June until Monday 1st July. The event hopes to include music, theatre, dance and visual arts in a series of independently produced events and workshops it will take place in venues throughout Glastonbury town.

Line-up

Expect an enormous range of independently organized events – all kinds of music, art, dance, drama, comedy, crafts, music and more music. A lot of local talent, plus performers from as far afield as Soweto in South Africa, and of course the occasional star turn from famous friends.

Tickets

Ticket prices vary according to venue and event. Some events are free. To find out about ticket details, click here.

More info

The Music and Arts Fringe is the brainchild of Sara Clay of Glastonbury Community Development Trust, is aimed at putting Glastonbury -– the Town -– back on the map by showcasing its vibrant local music and arts scene under one banner and telling the world about it, with in a series of independent local events drawing people into the 'real' Glastonbury. Last year featured as many as fifteen wildly different events every day, for a full eleven days, in thirty different venues.

Getting involved

Anyone wanting to get involved or more information about the Fringe should contact the Glastonbury Fringe via the GCDT OppShop, Unit 7 Abbey Mews, 56 – 58 High Street, Glastonbury, BA6 9DY, tel 01458 830304 or e-mail the Fringe team at [email protected].

The size and scope of the Fringe has exceeded all expectations in 2012, "We originally were thinking about a small-scale programme over a few days, with perhaps three or four events per night," says Sara Clay, one of the organisers. "The idea was simply to demonstrate the benefits of joining up individual creative efforts under one banner to publicise the town. We never expected it to grow this big so quickly - it really is Glastonbury magic!"

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
