FuseLeeds returns for 2009, the event is about discovering new music, whether that's electronica, jazz, world, classical, folk or the many points in between. The festival takes place in different venues over a week in and around Leeds, with loads of exciting and high profile new commissions and collaborations.

The acts announced include Gavin Bryars, Colleen, Leafcutterjohn, Paul Farrington/Studio Tonne, David Gedge (The Wedding Present), Vessels, Britten Sinfonia, BBC Big Band, Andy Sheppard, Phil Minton, Efterklang, The Acorn, Britten Sinfonia, The Flautadors, Michael Berkeley, Led Bib, IDST, Twelves Trio, Mary Dullea, Nancy Elizabeth, A Hawk and A Hacksaw, Royst Trio, Samay, Icebreaker, Yannis Kyriakides, Black Hair Ensemble, Norma Winstone, Eliza Carthy, Ed Harcourt, and Exaudi Vocal Ensemble.

The full programme, featuring over 30 events, will be announced at a later date. The first festival events have been announced as follows:
Thu 02 April Arborescent, Assembly Rooms £12.
Wed 29 April David Gedge with the BBC Big Band, West Yorkshire Playhouse £17.50.
Sat 25 April Efterklang with the Britten Sinfonia, Leeds Academy £17.50.
Sat 25 April fusillage Leeds Parish Church Free.

Fusillage is a new commission which celebrates bell ringing and brings it bang up to date with new bell peals written by leading composer Gavin Bryars and French multi-instrumentalist Colleen.
