Established in 1994 and now in its 13th year, the International Benicàssim Festival, FIB Heineken, near Valencia, Spain is back in a slightly altered timeslot for 2006 from 20th-23rd July. With camping from the 17th-25th July thrown in with your ticket price, all night music over 4 days, not to mention the free all night beach party on the fifth night, and sited just walking distance from the beach and a huge water park, there has probably never been a better reason to pack your bikini in your rucksack and get on a plane...

Benicassim has something to offer across the whole musical spectrum, as indie and rock bands rub shoulders with DJs and more experimental music projects. Many of the acts are for 2006 are now confirmed, including Depeche Mode, Echo & The Bunnymen, Franz Ferdinand, Madness, Morrissey, Pixies, Placebo, Scissor Sisters, The Strokes, Babyshambles, Beth Orton, Coldcut, Editors, The Futureheads, Miss Kittin, Radiosoulwax Presents Nite Versions live and 2manydjs + Justice, The Rakes, We Are Scientists, Art Brut, Ivan Smagghe, James Holden, The Kooks, Queens Of Noize, Tiga and White Rose Movement, all this with the final line-up still to be announced on 20th April.

As well as this diverse array of musical performers, the festival boasts a quality bill of non-musical entertainment, including dance, art, theatre, fashion and short films. As well as the usual markets, bars, food outlets and VIP arena, several other celebrations of the arts take place within the Benicassim festival, including the Internacional de Cortos FIB short film festival, the Mustang Fashion Weekend, the FIB-art exhibition, and the Cita con la Danza festival of dance and choreography, with educational arts courses on top of all this provided by local university, Universidad Jaume I. Young bands are also encouraged to enter the Proyecto Demo competition, a Contest for new Music Creators where entrants could win the opportunity to perform live in front of the huge crowds alongside various other prizes.
