Dunbar Traditional Music Festival 2007

The 19th Belhaven Best Dunbar Traditional Music Festival takes place annually, this year from Friday 28th - Sunday 30th September 2007.

Continuing in the same vein as previous years, the festival presents a mixture of Scottish, Folk, Appalachian, Jazz, and Blues music, and promises participation from every outlet plus strolling musicians and a ceilidh or two.

Joint headliners on Friday evening at the Scottish Evening in the Hillside Hotel (hosted by Stuart Adamson), are Joanna Cockburn and Robin Hamilton. Other artists playing on Friday include: Blues Inc (The Eagle Inn); Andrew Gordon (The Masons Arms); Sandy & Ewan (The Volunteer Arms); Rallion (The Barns Ness Hotel); Feet First Band (The Rossborough Hotel); and Lyra Celtica (at the West Barns Inn). All performances take place from 8.30pm until late.

On Saturday afternoon there's a Children's Workshop from 1.30pm until 3.30pm at the Parish Hall, plus lots of performances around the town such as jazz (and later, the Dunbar Pipe Band) by the old Post Office; an Accordian Afternoon at the Hillside Hotel; an Acoustic Folk Ceilidh at the Barns Ness Hotel; and performances from Ewan Wilkinson at the Volunteer Arms; and The Podlies accompanied by music pupils and John Leslie in the Parish Church Hall.

Saturday evening begins with Rallion at Hallhill, and one of the only paying events - A Watt & Son Ceilidh Dance with the Neil Hardie Band at the Rossborough Hotel from 8pm until 10.30pm - £5 on the door.
Other events on Saturday include: Guy Heath (The Masons Arms); Paul McKenna Band (The Hillside); Appalachian dance band, Feet First Band (The Barns Ness Hotel); Lyra Celtica (The Volunteer Arms); Jimmy Shandrix Exp. (West Barns Bowling Club); Cruithne (The Eagle Inn); and Andrew Gordon (The Bayswell Hotel).

On Sunday, a Celtic Shindig kicks off at 12.30pm in The Hillside, followed by an Acoustic Folk Ceilidh in The Barnsness starting at 2pm. Events starting at 2.30pm include: a Family Concert with the Ceilidh Minogue Band at The Rossborough Hotel; Paul McKenna Band (The Rocks); and Slanti Mhath (at the Volunteer Arms).

The afternoon venues at the Hillside and Barns Ness Hotels are open to all strolling musicians and singers.
