Crawley Folk Festival 2009


Crawley Folk Festival is a weekend of folk and traditional music which runs from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th June in the wooded grounds of The Hawth Theatre, Crawley. The annual Crawley folk festival is a three day family friendly celebration of the best traditional and contemporary music that the folk scene has to offer!

The line-up for 2009 is yet to be announced in full, but Oysterband, Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick, Touchstone, Groanbox Boys, Steve Knightley, Eliza Carthy & Band, Ross Ainslie & Jarlath Henderson, and Paul Jones & Dave Kelly, have already been confirmed. A festival weekend ticket which gives access to all stages on Saturday & Sunday. This ticket gives you access to over 30 bands over the Saturday and Sunday including Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick, Eliza Carthy Band, Steve Knightley, Paul Jones & Dave Kelly, Touchstone, Zoox, Groanbox Boys, Steve James, Bad Shepherds, John Smith and Jim Crawford plus many more. Expect the facilities to include a theatre, four stages, a storytellers tent, free workshops and foyer performances, a real ale tent, craft stalls - plus demonstrations in Morris and traditional folk dance and surrounding the theatre is lots of outside space.

The festival will have a traditional ceilidh on Saturday afternoon and the premiere of Crawley Celtic & Irish Society's Stage, which will play host to Irish and Celtic dancing and music throughout Sunday.

There are on site camping facilities priced at £10 which offer lots of space, and 24 toilet and shower facilities.
