Chippenham Folk Festival 2012


The Chippenham Folk Festival takes place from Friday 1st to Monday 4th June 2012. Celebrating its 41st year and having seen many changes since its beginnings in the village of Lacock many years ago, this festival still retains its 'village' atmosphere, and is packed with song, dance, workshops and dance displays. Over 200 events take place within the town centre.

The main ceilidh and concert events take place in the park by the river. Practically every pub and venue in the town is used for a wide range of sessions, workshops and smaller concerts and dances.

Line-up

The first Song and Music acts confirmed include Al Parrish (Tanglefoot), Brass Monkey, Askew Sisters, Bill Whaley & Dave Fletcher, Coope Boyes and Simpson, Craig:Morgan:Robson, Dave Field, His Worship & The Pig, James Findlay, John Alderslade, Keith Donnelly, Maggie Boyle & Paul Downes, Martin & Shan Graebe, Mick Ryan & Paul Downes, Nick Dow, Peter & Barbara Snape, Rosie Upton, Sara Grey, Sarah Morgan & Jeff Gillett, Sulis, Vin Garbutt, and Wendy Arrowsmith. Ceilidh acts include Ceilidhography, Fee Lock, Gordon Potts, Hannah Bright, Panjandrum, Perfect Cure, Phil Bassindale, Simon Care Trio, Tickled Pink, and Token Women. Plus another folk opera - 'A Paupers Path'.

There will also be a full programme of children's events (for season ticket holders only).

There is a large craft marquee, catering facilities and an open air arena in the park. The high street and historic market square are both pedestrianised, and are used throughout the weekend for busking, street theatre and processions and there's a huge street fair on Monday.

Tickets

An early bird season ticket is priced at £70 for a full season ticket, camping (for season tickets only) is priced at £19 per person, under 16's half price on everything, and under 10's Free. There may be tickets for individual events on the door but these can't be booked in advance so are subject to availability. To buy tickets, click here.

Camping

Camping and caravanning are available to season ticket holders on riverside sites in the centre of the town at around £15 per person for the weekend, kids aged 10-15yrs - half price.
