Budleigh Salterton Festival 2007

Offering a week of music performances and workshops on the East Devon coast (just down the road from Sidmouth) for lovers of serious and classical music, folk and rock, with events for all the family.

There are performances of chamber music, piano recitals, musicals, plays, and singing and there are many free events too, notably the popular lunchtime concerts (every day except Sunday) at the Temple Church, plus folk music at Otterton Mill.

This year's highlights so far include:
Saturday, 25th July:
The Exmouth Community College Balalaika Band and Teiko Drummers playing on the Green starting at 2pm; Budleigh Salterton Festival Orchestra playing John Gardner's bassoon concerto and other works at the Temple Church starting at 7.30pm.
Sunday, 29th July
From 1pm on the Green: The Lympstone Silver Band; and in the Temple from 3pm, an afternoon concert with John Fisher playing piano.
Saturday, 4th August
7.30pm at St. Peter's Church: The Budleigh Salterton Festival Orchestra Mozart Evening conducted by Nicholas Marshall.

Other artists include Thomas Hobbs; The Moraston Ensemble; Raphael Wallfisch (cello) and Gunilla Sussman (piano), and the New Zealand String Quartet.

In addition to the above, the Lime Kiln hosts a rock event, Budstock, with a bar and barbecue and a juice bar. The music runs from 2pm until late.

More information about Budstock and folk events will be posted here when available.

There are also guided walks, talks and workshops (nearly every day). If you become a 'friend' of the festival (£10 in 2006), you get a free programme and access to all the events. One or two events are limited to 'friends' only.
