Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival 2022

Bournemouth's Arts by the Sea Festival includes original arts activities, spanning music, dance, film, visual arts, performance and spoken word, in all kinds of spaces across the town from Friday 30th September until Sunday 2nd October 2022. Dancing in the street is positively encouraged!

Line-up

Performances, acts and artists have just been announced and include:

Bournemouth & Poole College Takeover, Funky Little Choir, Mama Jerk and The Lady Fingers, The High Priestess of Pop and the Disco Druids by Gobbledegook Theatre, Break Out Brass, Tuba Libres, Xaman X, Airship Orchestra by ENESS, South Coast Makers Market, The Rascally Diner by LAStheatre, Frock by Stopgap Dance Company, Roll Play by Simple Cypher, The Jukeboxes by Bootworks Theatre, Carnival by the Sea, Press Play Opening Ceremony with House Gospel Choir & The Media Workshop, King Ramps Skate Park, The Hush Club, The Luminarium by Architects of Air and more.

Over the festival there will be a host of special events and performances; including the opening spectacle, Press Play, on Friday night at the Town Hall, bringing together 3D projection mapping, a collaboration between the digital arts collective, The Media Workshop, and the renowned House Gospel Choir.

There's also a pop-up Skate Park with Rave Rover, snaking around as its roaming soundsystem chucks out disco edits and remixed classics courtesy of DJ Sara Blow, part of the all-female empowered group, Frau DJs.

The Skate Park also features The Hush Club and a Roller Disco plus participatory workshops and entertaining demos all weekend.

Each year, Bournemouth’s gardens are packed with intriguing installations from some of the best creative companies. The cavernous walk-in sculpture The Luminarium by Architects of Air is a must-see attraction in the Lower Gardens where an inflatable maze of winding paths and soaring domes awakens the senses and drenches audiences in radiant colour.
