BLOC weekend 2011

One of the leading indoor underground music events, the fifth BLOC weekend will offer three days of independent electronic music, held once again at Butlins Resort, Minehead, Somerset from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th March 2011.

Line-up

The event promises a line-up of something like 60+ international acts. Acts confirmed include headliners Aphex Twin, Magnetic Man, and Laurent Garnier, plus Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Apparat, Rustie, LFO, Moderat, Vitalic, Joy Orbison, Seth Troxler, Claude Von Stroke, Beardyman, Dopplereffekt, Digital Mystikz, Four Tet, Speedy J, Drop The Lime, Toddla T, L-Vis 1990, Roska, Al Tourettes, Mary Anne Hobbs, Venetian Snares, King Midas Sound, Daedelus, Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss, Joy Orbison, Soul Clap, Floating Points, B12, Legowelt, and many more. There will be two stages plus a pub stage, an Un:BLOC stage offering a range of non-electronic acts, and an interactive arts arena.

Fancy dress theme

The Sunday theme of the 2011 Bloc festival fifth birthday will be Heroes and Villains.

Accommodation

There's self-catered, heated chalet accommodation on site, with ensuite and equipped with beds, kitchen, showers, and all mod cons. Butlins Minehead looks out across a sandy beach. The site is equipped with a supermarket, newsagent, cash points and restaurants.

Facilities

Onsite facilities include a Splash Water World - a sub-tropical environment that has a wave pool, a swimming pool, 3 flumes and also a flume based raft ride, plus ten-pin bowling and amusement arcade. Sports include archery, football, basketball, darts, petanque, fencing, kwik cricket, netball, rounders, table tennis, outdoor bowls and crazy golf.

Tickets

Tickets have SOLD OUT bookings were done per chalet. Tickets had to be bought in groups of multiple berths according to the size of the apartment wanted. 'Self-Catering' apartments have a kitchen and a separate living room, and 'Room-Only' apartments do not. A room only ticket was priced at £140 per person, including festival passes. A self catering apartment was priced at £160 per person, including festival passes.

Shuttle buses

Coaches will be departing from Taunton Station on an hourly basis on Friday 11th from 2pm until 11pm, tickets are priced at around £6 per person. There will also be a return service departing Resort at 7.30am until 10am on Monday 14th March. Return tickets will be available priced at around £10 per person.
