BIG SESSION INFORMATION

Stages

By Danielle Millea | Published:

The information below applies to the festival held at Leicester, before its 2012 move to Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, South Derbyshire.

The main stage is held in De Montfort Hall, a large two tier venue with a wooden floor for dancing to ceilidh to. The second stage is a tent outside called the Marquee hosting music and comedy, and the third stage is the tented Orange Tree stage, housing smaller local acts and sitting next to the real ale bar. This also hosts the Sunflower Songs Competition Winner, Beatroot Poetry Hour and Lee's Afternoon Sessions.

Little Session - As part of the festival's fringe events there is other music to check out in local bars and clubs (one of the perks of having a city centre festival). It is held in the Hind Hotel, found opposite Leicester's main train station www.thehindhotel.co.uk and the events have free entry. They usual run the events as a warm up to the festival on the Friday afternoon and to end the festival on the Sunday afternoon (with real ale and a barbeque).
