  1. Lineup 2018

I've listened to a bit of Scarxrd, I think I've blown my headphones in the process. If they get the sound right, he's gonna be awesome.
  2. Lineup 2018

This interview with Melvin explains explains something if you believe it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-43174013 There were strong rumours that Arctic Monkeys would headline one of the nights. Were they ever in contention? Not really. The Arctic Monkeys have headlined Reading and Leeds twice before so they're an act we're always talking to. Was it ever likely for this year? No, it wasn't. They've got their own plans. You sort of know when someone's around and wanting to play, and it wasn't clear to us that they wanted to play, so we didn't push too hard. Kings Of Leon are one of my favourite guitar bands. I adore them.
  3. Lineup 2018

You're quite right - I hadn't even noticed that. Shows how much attention I'm paying whilst stumbling around in a cider haze 2012 2017
  4. Lineup 2018

According to the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-14475171 Yeah that makes less sense
  5. Lineup 2018

yeah it was supposed to be a joke *gets coat
  6. Lineup 2018

Whoever updated the Clashfinder forgot to leave gaps for the special guests Don Broco in R1 is about right for me personally. R1 holds 18-20K don't forget - Ally Pally 10,400.
  7. Lineup 2018

I'd of thought if it's going to happen it will be next Tuesday but who knows?
  8. Lineup 2018

I really don't know anymore. Incidentally, are there any other festivals that get such a backlash from their lineup announcements? It happens every year with Reading, albeit not normally this bad. Also, Drenge have just announced a tour in May, playing Deer Shed in July - could be a possibility for the next announcement.
  9. Lineup 2018

I can confirm the 'L' in Lamar is 2 pixels bigger than the L in FOB & KOL. It doesn't confirm anything other than their budget graphic designer is shit though. This thread gets better and better :-D
  10. Lineup 2018

I'd be really interested to know how ticket sales have gone since the announcement. I can only see it being terrible with the exception of Kendrick day tickets maybe - that said, you can still get tickets now for his Wembley gig on Tuesday. Oh to be a fly on the wall at the FR offices

  12. Lineup 2018

I'm hoping they do a similar explanation for FOB, P! and KOL cos I'm lost
  13. Lineup 2018

Lets face it, people moaning about the R&L line up is nothing new. It usually doesn't seem to matter though cos there are enough people (myself included) who go every year regardless and enough new groms willing to go to make it worth their while. This year does seem to be a major backlash though, with the mainstream media picking up on it. I wonder if FR have finally managed to fuck it completely. Perhaps it's a cost saving experiment in a year with less competition? Personally, unless there are big improvements, I can't see myself going. Hopefully enough people will do the same and FR will learn a lesson. More likely is it will be a resounding sell out success - as usual - and we'll get Ed Sheeran headlining next year. p.s. The whole 2 main stage thing has to a load of bs. The Reading site is already cramped enough as it is with the railway one side and the river the other. Not to mention the constant complaints from the local residents. I can't see how it was ever even considered.
  14. Lineup 2018

Does anyone know if Jon McIldowie is still the head booker or if that's changed recently?
  15. Lineup 2018

“Reading and Leeds prides itself on being a music-first festival and this year’s line-up already proves that,” said Festival Republic boss Melvin Benn. “Kings of Leon and Fall Out Boy are bands that have grown with the festival and its fans and we couldn’t be more pleased to invite them back to headline. “Adding Panic! at the Disco and Kendrick Lamar, probably the most sought-after act in the world right now, we think Reading and Leeds Festivals 2018 are off to an amazing start – with even more to come, so watch this space.” Really Melvin?
