The Cure's Robert Smith has been revealed as the curator for the 25th Meltdown Festival, which will take place at the Southbank Centre, London, from Friday 15th until Sunday 24th June 2018.

Smith is the lead singer and principal songwriter of The Cure, and its only constant member since the group formed in 1978. His influence reaches across popular culture, film, art, and fashion, with his many collaborations including performing and recording with artists such as David Bowie, Billy Corgan, Blink 182, The Stranglers, Placebo, Crystal Castles, Faithless, Korn and 65daysofstatic.

The first line-up details will be announced in March, with tickets going on sale shortly afterwards.

Will The Cure play? Not if a previously-claimed "only European concert of 2018" for elsewhere (already sold out) proves to be true - tho it wouldn't be the first time a promoter has told a porkie if it doesn't.
