Claimed to be "the UK's premier experimental music festival” by 6music's Stuart Maconie, Supersonic Festival returns again from Friday 16th until Sunday 16th June 2017 at The Crossing + Boxxed + Wilde Building in Floodgate Street, Birmingham, plus two special concerts at the Town Hall, and the Symphony Hall (for the Kids Gig).

There's an opening concert at Birmingham Town Hall on the Friday from Anna von Hausswolff performing on the pipe organ - separately ticketed at £23 - along with a general programme that has Algorave using live algorithms, Anonymous Bash, Art of Burning Water, Charles Hayward, Zig Zag + Swirl, Melt Banana, Mothwasp, a special performance by Nicholas Bullen with ‘Universal Detention Centre’ tying into the 30 year anniversary of Napalm Death's Grindcore masterpiece, Scum, plus PCM, and Xylouris White.

On Saturday, Japanese band Melt Banana host the 'kids gig' - "big sounds for little people" - at Symphony Hall from 2-3:30pm, and is recommended for children under 10, while the general programme has Arbouretum, Big Joanie, Colin Stetson, Electronica Wizard, Ex-Easter Island Head, Grey Hairs, Haress, Jenny Hval, Jessica Moss, Kuro Maga, Laniakea, Laura Cannell, Pigs x 7, Raime, Richard Dawson, The Seer, a world premier for Zonal Feat. Justin Broadrick + Kevin Martin, and Zu.

On Sunday are Casual Nun, Dorcha, Flowers Must Die, power trio Ghold, Kamilya Jubran Wasl Trio, Khyam Allami, Lone Taxidermist, Mohammad, Nadah El Shazly, Oxbow performing with a choir, Princess Nokia, London based punk purveyors of Pagan Funk Snapped Ankles, The Space Lady, Tomaga & Pierre Bastien, and Two or The Dragon.

There's also extra curricular activities and workshops to keep curious minds (and bodies) entertained throughout the weekend, with Yoga In Black holding two sessions of their unique take on yoga over the Festival weekend, in collaboration with electric cellist Rotten Bliss. The festival also includes workshops / talks / films and ... erm ... cake.

A 3-day weekend ticket is priced at £90. Friday is £20, and Saturday or sunday are £35. Two-day combination tickets are also available, as are tickets for Anna von Hausswolff.
