Billy Ocean to headline the 'family concert day' at Mouth of the Tyne Festival 2017

Billy Ocean has been announced as headliner for the 'family concert day' - Sunday - at this year's annual Mouth of the Tyne Festival which takes place from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th July 2017. He will take to the stage in the stunning surroundings of Tynemouth Priory and Castle on Sunday 9 July 2017.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am this Friday, 7th April, available from the link below.

Festival Director Steve Bishop said, "Sunday afternoon in the Priory features around six hours of live music, along with activities for young children and great food and drink available from some of the region’s best street food traders. We know how popular Billy is in the North East so we’re really excited to welcome him to the festival for the first time."

Also announced today as part of the festival - tho oddly outside of the festivals dates - is a show by Ian Hunter of Mott The Hoople fame, who will perform at Playhouse Whitley Bay on Monday 3 July. Tickets for this show also go on sale on Friday, and will be available from the Playhouse.

The headline shows for Mouth of the Tyne Festival this year are from Elbow (Thursday, sold out), Laura Marling (Friday £25),  Tom Odell (Saturday £29.50), and Billy Ocean (Sunday £20). To buy tickets please use the link below.

Mouth of the Tyne Festival is a four-day cultural celebration of music and performing arts that takes place each summer in Tynemouth, North East England. Its main outdoor stage is situated on a coastal cliff location, adjacent to the Tynemouth Priory and Castle, overlooking the King Edward’s Bay beach and North Sea on one side, and the River Tyne on the other.

The Playhouse Whitley Bay will play host to live bands and musicians and Tynemouth Metro Station hosts a takeover for the duration, with dance troupes and a wide variety of musicians and performers. There will also be a designated ‘Early Years’ area for children featuring a storytelling, music and craft activities. Local food and craft stalls will line the station’s platform offering a delicious array of locally-sourced produce and decorative work.
