North Yorkshire's Willowman Festival will be encouraging it's audience to pay tribute to rock legend David Bowie, through a 'stars and space travel' fancy dress theme this summer!

Event organiser Steve Williams explained, "The music world was stunned to hear of Bowie's death, when he passed away in January. No other musician did more to make the idea of space travel and science fiction more popular than he did with songs like Space Oddity, Starman and of course Ziggy Stardust. He was such an influence on me and on people right across the music industry that l felt l had to pay tribute in some way. The fancy dress theme in his honour is our way of paying homage to a man who inspired so many with his music, costumes and alter egos over the years."

There will also be a performance of the Ziggy Stardust album in it's entirety on the Thursday night of the festival in the Willow Wobbly beer tent stage. This follows a tradition of esoteric performances on the Thursday evening at Willowman before the other stages officially open at midday on the Friday.

The acts confirmed are The Undertones, Stereo MC's, The Membranes, Real People, The Beat, Misty in Roots, James Taylor Quartet, Tom Hingley, Mad Dog Mcrea, Esperanza, Belle Roscoe, 70's Cop Show, Dream Machine, The Jar Family, Holy Moly & the Crackers, Kingsley Chapman and The Murder, Apollo Junction, Social Room, Terri Shaltiel, Willowman Allstars, George Borowski, Tom Fletcher, Douglas Francis, Katie Fletcher, Stan, Fickle Lilly, Shipcote, Harri Endersby, Gaz Mayall, Mass Centi, Jayson Sicknote, Prognosis,DJ Chuckle, and Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra.
