Mahotella Queens to headline Musicport 2016

South Africa’s legendary Mahotella Queens will headline Saturday night at the 17th Musicport,  happening from Friday 21st until Sunday 23rd October, as the event returns again to Whitby Pavilion, in North Yorkshire.

Also confirmed are poet Lemn Sissay, Martin Taylor, Michael Messer's Mitra, Maia Barrouh, and Project 12. They join a line-up that includes The Magic Numbers, Lynched, Soupsongs (songs of Robert Wyatt) , Kathryn Tickell & The Side, Sarah Jane Morris & The Bloody Rain Band, Black Umfolosi, Jamie Smith's Mabon, Don Letts, Maz O'Connor, Geoff Berner, Adam Ben Ezra, Rory McLeod & the Familiar Strangers, Quraishi, Himmerland, Martin Alvarado, and Arstidir

estival goers can expect over 50 acts in one indoor venue over 5 stages the music comes from acts from around the world. The festival also includes live art projections in the DJ cafe, free fringe events, films, workshops, a festival bazaar as well as themed food and real ale street events, school and community workshops.

Early bird tickets are on sale. Adult weekend tickets are priced at £85, a Junior (aged 11-17 years) weekend ticket is priced at £42, and children aged under 11 years can attend for free.

There is also an opportunity to support the festival's education programme and make a donation, organisers are hoping to raise £4500.
