The inaugural Under The Apple Tree Roots Festival set to be curated by legendary broadcaster 'Whispering' Bob Harris has been cancelled, due to mounting costs unmatched by ticket sales.

The festival was set to take place over the May Spring bank holiday weekend from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th May 2016 in the Silverstone Woodlands, in Northamptonshire.

Headlined by Gretchen Peters, & Mary Chapin Carpenter acts across four stages were going to include Scott Matthews, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Dreaming Spires, The Lake Poets, Ethan Johns, Sonia Leigh, Danny and the Champions Of The World, Hunter and The Bear, Boo Hewerdine, Thea Gilmore, Chris Difford, Blue Rose Code, Keston Cobblers Club, Judith Owen, Nell Bryden, Martyn Joseph, Ward Thomas, Liam Bailey, Jess and The Bandits, Loud Mountains, Benjamin Folke Thomas, Sasha McVeigh, Jess Morgan, Balsamo Deighton, Laura Oakes, Blair Dunlop, Lewis & Leigh, Raintown, C.C. Smugglers, and more.

Organiser 'Whispering' Bob Harris made a statement saying, "It is with a heavy heart I announce that we are unable to hold our UTAT Festival in May. The staging of this event was an ambition of a lifetime for me and we have done everything in our power to make it happen during many months of work. We have reluctantly come to realise that due to the mounting logistical costs that have become apparent, ticket sales have not kept up with these costs. We have no choice but to tell you that this event will no longer be taking place this year.

However, my desire to hold a major music event remains undimmed and an alternative plan is now in place. We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a series of Festivals in a Day at Cadogan Hall in London, featuring as many of the artists that were due to perform over the May bank holiday as possible. Our first one will be on September 10th 2016 when we will stage a very special concert celebrating my 70th birthday and our first in a series of UTAT Day Festivals.

Existing festival ticket holders will receive a refund in full. Artist line-up and tickets for our first Day Festival will be announced and on sale shortly.

My sincere thanks and appreciation goes to all the artists and ticket holders whose loyalty and faith has been heart warming.

Bob Harris."
