The 1975, and Jake Bugg are the latest acts to be announced for BBC Radio 1's 13th annual free Big Weekend will take place in Exeter's Powderham Castle taking place over three days from Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May 2016.

The 1975 said, "We're really excited to be playing in Exeter for Radio 1's Big Weekend.  We loved playing Derry~Londonderry and Glasgow and are really pleased to be heading back for a third time."

The 1975 and Jake Bugg join the previously announced Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, Chase And Status, Bring Me The Horizon, and Craig David. Headline acts and a full line-up of international and UK artists, bands and DJs will be confirmed in the coming months.

The full line-up for Radio 1's flagship music event, Europe’s biggest free ticketed festival, will be revealed on Radio 1 over the coming months and ticketing details will be announced on Monday 21st March.

Tickets will be free and are obtained through a lottery. There is no charge for the concert itself, but a handling fee per ticket will be applied to help cover all associated ticket handling costs. The majority of the tickets for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend 2016 are being allocated to people living Exeter and in the surrounding area.

Radio 1’s Big Weekend is now in its 13th year and will be produced in partnership with Exeter City and Teignbridge District Councils. The annual festival travels to areas of the UK that don’t typically host large-scale music events of this kind. As well as shining a spotlight on the host city in the lead-up to the event and via coverage, Radio 1’s Big Weekend provides a major boost to the local economy.

For the fifth year running, in the lead-up to Big Weekend, Radio 1 and BBC Learning will produce Radio 1’s Academy, which aims to inspire local 16-19-year-olds to take the next step in creative careers. Radio 1’s Academy will include a series of special events, local engagement and face-to-face activity in the area, which begins in April and culminates in May with a week of radio shows, gigs, masterclasses and Q&As. Keep listening to Radio 1 for further details.
