Spread more joy this Christmas by giving people in developing countries the gift of life through helping WaterAid provide safe water.

This winter, until 10th February, the UK Government will match all donations to WaterAid’s Deliver Life appeal, so every pound you give will be doubled..

For more than 30 years WaterAid has been on a mission to transform the lives of the world’s poorest and most marginalised people by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. One in three people in the world do not have a decent toilet, and 650 million are living without access to safe water. .

Just imagine giving birth in a place where there is no safe water. No mother should have to welcome her tiny, vulnerable baby into the world in a hospital that can’t be cleaned properly. No baby should be born on filthy sheets that cannot be washed – and no baby should die from sepsis because of a lack of safe water and an unclean environment..

With your donation you can give the gift of clean water to mums and newborn babies this Christmas. Here are three great reasons to give:.

1. You can save mothers’ lives. Up to 30 women give birth at Kiomboi hospital in Tanzania every day. Your gift will give pregnant women the safe water they need to deliver life safely.

2. You can save babies’ lives. Every minute, a newborn dies from infection caused by a lack of safe water and an unclean environment. Your gift of clean water can help protect babies from potentially fatal infections like sepsis..

3. Your gift will be matched by the UK Government, enabling you to reach twice as many mums and their families with safe water.
