Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline next year's Roskilde Festival in Denmark, twenty years after their first performance.

The Los Angeles based band return nine years after their last visit, and have been hard at work on their 11th studio album, their first since I’m With You from 2011. The band has enlisted producer Danger Mouse for the new album, which will be released next year. Having formed in 1983, the band released a series of albums that quickly gained them a loyal audience.

Expect a set full of hits such as ‘Give It Away’, ‘Scar Tissue’, ‘Under the Bridge’ and ‘Californication’, plus new material.

They join a line-up that includes the first acts confirmed who are Courtney Barnett, Sleaford Mods, Action Bronson, Mac Demarco, Cattle Decapitation, Colin Stetson & Sarah Neufeld, Ho99o9, Kuedo, Qwanqwa, and Sturgill Simpson, with another 165 acts to be announced in the coming months.

Roskilde is continental Europe's biggest festival, and offers a variety of international acts and four days of music from Saturday 25th June until Saturday 2nd July 2016.

Tickets are due on sale later this year.
