Organisers of the 11th Brownstock Festival which takes place at Morris Farm, Chelmsford, in Essex have been granted permission for an extra 2,000 guests per year up to a maximum of 12,000 people after appealing a decision to limit its numbers.

Brownstock Festival is run by the Brown family on their farm in Essex. 2014 was the festival’s 10 anniversary year since it began in 2005 as a small event for 150 people. The Brown family now welcomes 5,999 visitors to the farm, but the festival is still completely independent with a uniquely quirky, rustic and handmade feel.

According to the Maldon and Burnham Standard, (here), organisers of Brownstock Festival which takes take place next year from Friday 10th until Sunday 12th July 2015 had taken Maldon District Council to court after the council's licensing sub-committee refused their application to increase their crowd capacity from 5,999 to 15,000 over the next five years citing concern about the safe management of the crowd.

The festival has now been given permission to increase its capacity by 2,000 extra guests per year up to a maximum of 12,000 people after the two parties came to an agreement in advance of an appeal hearing.
