After months of waiting Guildford Borough Council have just revealed today, Wednesday 15th January, their decision that GuilFest can make a return to Stoke Park, Guildford this summer via a live Webcast.

The event has been given the go ahead subject to meeting some additional financial conditions, and licence application details. Last year, Stoke Park held a new two-day music event organised by Live Nation called Magic Summer Live, and it was thought they were competing to hold the event again this year. However, as they did not have headliners in place they have withdrawn an application this year. The agreement with GuilFest to host the event is for one year only.

GuilFest started in 1992 and ran for 20 years until in 2012, when after some of the worst weather experienced in its history and low attendance levels, the company behind GuilFest went into liquidation. Now the new management team Trowfest Ltd are the newly named organisers.

Since then however organiser Tony Scott has had so many offers of support in helping to reinstate the festival, including an online petition he decided to launch a bid at the end of last year to get the festival up and running in 2014.

The news follows a public Council meeting in October when the organisers were given the green light to make an application to hold the festival again this year.

GuilFest offered a multitude of different musical styles with classic and modern acts, plus entertainment, children's area, art and crafts, and a truly festive atmosphere. It had been one of eFestivals favourite festivals, and one that we had sponsored since 2002.
