Promoters Live Nation have applied for a premises licence to use Leicester's Victoria Park for a major music event slated for next summer. The exact dates are yet to be revealed but the new event is planned to happen over two days sometime between Sunday 1st June and Friday 1st August next year.

Live Nation's application seeks permission for the use of live music, recorded music and dance performances, and film between 10am until 11pm from Sunday to Monday plus the supply of alcohol, and the provision late-night catering.

Councillor Neil Clayton, told the Leicester Mercury, (here), that, "It is an extremely big event and will involve a very well-known band. At the moment, the details are confidential but it will come out very soon.

"From an economic point of view, it will also be a very good event for the city. We have to do all that we can to minimise disruption to residents in the area, but I really support having the festival. It will be a great thing for Leicester and the local economy."

Speculation is rife that Kasabian are the big name in question, and eFestivals knows that the local act have been wanting to hold a 'homecoming' show for years.
