Megadeth are confirmed to headline the Sunday night slot at next summer's Bloodstock Open Air taking place from Thursday 7th until Sunday 10th August at Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, in South Derbyshire.

This will be the thrash icons' first appearance at Bloodstock.  In a career nearing 30 years they have sold more than 38 million albums worldwide and the band’s latest studio album released in June, 'Super Collider', reunites frontman Dave Mustaine once again with guitarist Chris Broderick, bassist David Ellefson, and drummer Shawn Drover.

Megadeth founder, frontman Dave Mustaine declared, "2014 is the 20th Anniversary for ‘Youthanasia’, and we are celebrating that by headlining the Bloodstock Festival in the glorious UK.  Every year Megadeth and our UK fans get closer and celebrate another year of metal greatness together. This is the beginning of 2014...the best is yet to come."

They join UK exclusive headliners Emperor, and Down. Plus Saxon, Flotsam and Jetsam, and Decapitated. For the line-up details as available please click here. There are no other acts confirmed yet for 2014.

As well as the international heavy metal bands across four stages, Bloodstock will offer a large selection of merchandise stalls, metal karaoke, a campsite and a wide selection of food and bars.
