Newquay's Bang Face Weekender cancelled

due to new licencing conditions following Run to the Sun

The Bang Face Weekender won't be raving by the seaside after the event has released a statement saying that after the venue hosted Run To The Sun at the end of May has had imposed sound restrictions following local complaints by the local Council which BangFace organisers say make their event impossible. The fact that both Beach Break Live and Boardmasters are intending to locate within the same Council's boundaries may make this a problem for other events based in Newquay.

The statement from Bang Face - The Weekender says:
"BangFace Weekender 2013 - cancelled due to licencing conditions.

It is with great sadness and frustration that Bang Face Weekender 2013 cannot go ahead as planned.

The venue had a review of its licence earlier this year and have been working extremely hard with the council to ensure events can go ahead successfully. This resulted in all objections from the authorities being withdrawn. On this basis we have been working on the understanding that we could achieve even better sound in the main arena with extensive temporary works to the venue.

However, following the venues flagship event 'Run To The Sun' on May 24-26th, significantly lower sound levels were set by the council as a result of complaints from local residents. These new levels are unworkable, greatly affecting both volume and critical bass frequencies. We simply cannot deliver an event under these restrictions.

All ticket holders will be refunded beginning immediately but please be patient whilst we process them all.

Massive thanks for all the continued support over what is now 10 years of Bang Face and here's to many more parties in the future."
Bang Face was set to return for a sixth year for a weekend of raving by the seaside at Trevelgue Holiday Park, Porth, Newquay, in Cornwall over the weekend of Friday 13th until Sunday 15th September 2013.

The line-up was set to include LFO (live + A/V show), Rebuild (live), Graham Massey & A Guy Called Gerald, Venetian Snares, Luke Vibert, Black Sun Empire, Congo Natty: Rebel MC & Tenor Fly & Congo Dubs, DJ Pierre, Phuture, Shut Up & Dance, Aphrodite, Krome & Time, Kid606, Otto Von Schirach, Squarepusher, Enduser, Ceephax Acid Crew, Aaron Spectre, Ragga Twins, Dave Skywalker, Demon Cabbage, Bassbin Terrorizer, µ-Ziq, Neil Landstrum, Ital, Saint Acid & The Bang Face Hard Crew, and more.
