The originators of British folk-rock musiFairport Convention will open the St Ives September Festival of Music and the Arts which offers music, visual arts, poetry, literature, theatre and cinema around St Ives, in Cornwall from Saturday 14th to Saturday 28th September 2013.

Latest additions to the line-up include The Three Belles, The Bevin Boys, The Ronnie Scott's All Stars, Emily Barker, Chastity Brown, Martha Tilston & The Scientists, Matt Price and friends, and Keltrix.

Already confirmed are St Ives September Festival patrons Steve Knightley and Phil Beer host an evening and appear as Show of Hands with Miranda Sykes, they are joined by James Taylor Quartet, Arthur Smith, John Otway, Miracle Theatre – Waiting For Godot, Jamie Smith's Mabon, The Wurzels, Mad Dog Mcrea, The Manfreds, Livewire AC/DC, The ZZ Tops, No1 Ladies Accordion Orchestra, Mousehole Male Voice Choir, John Cooper Clarke, Davey Arthur, and Johnny Cowling.

Ticketed gigs take place at The Guildhall and The Western Hotel which hosts a full programme. There will be music of all types in the Guildhall and the Pubs.

Other attractions include arts workshops and classes, arts exhibitions, talks, walks, theatre, comedy, films, cabaret, street entertainment, poetry, and many other events. As well as Open Studios, where local artists open their workspaces to the public in order to feature their work in art, ceramics, textiles and glass; there will also be an art exhibition in the St Ives School of Painting and ceramic pit firing on Porthmeor Beach.

Another aspect of the festival is the Film Season, featuring showings of classic films - this year with a 'Monster' theme, to include screenings of 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde', 'An American Werewolf in London', 'Nosferatu', 'The Mist' and the 1931 film 'Frankenstein'- all taking place at St Ives Arts Club.
