Glaswegians The Fratellis are the first headliner announced for this year's Brownstock Festival which happens at Morris Farm, Chelmsford, in Essex from Friday 30th August until Sunday 1st September 2013.

Also confirmed to appear on the main stage line-up are Mark Ronson (DJ set), The Pigeon Detectives, Benga and Youngman, and Doorly.

They join the previously announced DJ Yoda, Benga, Roni Size, and The Cuban Brothers for the festival run by the Brown family. The line-up will feature 100s of unsigned acts during the weekend handpicked by the Brown Family whose ethos is to support the strong local music scene. Their Facebook Band App aims to make this even more inclusive, allowing acts to apply as well as letting festival goers to listen to, or request acts.

The festival is also scattered with themed areas hand built or handpicked by the Brown family. Acts will take to the Treehouse Stage, hand built by Farmer's Daughter Anna Brown, up in one of the old oak trees in the festival field.

There's also The Piano Bar in the festival campsite with a grand piano centre piece, and home to impromptu acoustic sets and everything from Burlesque Dancers to fitness classes with piano music for backing. Open on Sunday morning for Sunday papers, board games and a cider.

Now in its 9th year the festival for 6,000 visitors is still completely independent and alongside music offers comedy, storytelling, street art camp, skateboarding park, parquour displays, dance tent, a silent disco and the 'Brownstock Sunday Roast'.

The early bird tickets have sold out. A combined weekend and camping ticket is priced at £65 but this tier price is going quickly. Children aged under 12 can attend for free. A car parking ticket is priced at £5.
