The Tobias Sammet fronted rockers step into Sunday's 'special guest' slot. The EdGuy frontman, is currently joined in what was originally intended as a one-off side project by 'unmasked' Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick. They have a new 'rock/metal opera' album in the works, set for a late Spring 2013 release, and Bloodstock is one of only a few European festival appearances for the group next year.

The frontman said, "I know I once said we weren't gonna do it again, but then I don't see a reason to let this die. I wanna put on the biggest thing you have ever seen, I wanna bring more vocalists, play longer shows, and just make it a giant Rock Opera.....I am so looking forward to it. The stage designer has just showed me his stage & light design, and it looks absolutely killer. 2013 will be a major year for Avantasia, and people don't have a clue how big things are actually going to be! I am very excited - the album will be amazingly epic, and the tour will be too!!"

Also confirmed today are Knoxville deathcore crew bWhitechapel, Canadian death metallers Kataklysm, and their spin off Maurizio Iacono fronted Roman-themed supergroup Ex Deo.

They join the previously announced Friday headliners King Diamond and Saturday headliners Lamb Of God (UK exclusive), as well as Anthrax, DevilDriver, Municipal Waste, Accept, Dark Funeral plus Amorphis, Fozzy, and Firewind (as UK exclusives). A third, Sunday night headliner and many more bands are still to be revealed.

As well as the international heavy metal bands across three stages, Bloodstock offers a large selection of merchandise stalls, metal karaoke, a campsite and a wide selection of food and bars.
