Kraftwerk, and Pet Shop Boys, for Barcelona's Sonar 2013

Kraftwerk have been announced as headliners for Sonar, the annual three-day music festival held in Barcelona, Spain from Thursday 13th through to Saturday 15th June 2013.

The legendary German group will be bringing their new extravagant 3D show. As the blurb says, "Kraftwerk have been working since 1970 and are known worldwide thanks to their audiovisual performances, and remain at the cutting edge of everything. Their new show adapts 3D technology to their own language and gives body and volume to the powerful imagery that has accompanied them throughout their career."

Also announced today are Pet Shop Boys who will also be headlining and presenting their new show, "a spectacular display of technology packed visuals to accompany their repertoire."

The first acts also include Two Door Cinema Club, Dominick Fernow's techno project Vatican Shadow, Fantastic Mr Fox, Hot Natured, and Lindstrom will be teaming up with fellow Scandinavian Todd Terje. There are also two local acts confirmed, Baradien, and Eduard Escoffet.

The line-up this year also includes Lana Del Rey, The Roots, Deadmau5, Hot Chip, Modeselektor, James Blake, Fatboy Slim, Richie Hawtin, Amon Tobin's ISAM, Squarepusher, Nicolas Jaar, Luciano, Azari & III, Jacques Lus Cont, Friendly Fires, Metronomy, John Talabot, Mouse On Mars, BBC Radio 1 presents Annie Mac & guests and showcases from Hyperdub, Brainfeeder and 100% Silk, among others. The main venue for Sonar by Day this year is Fira Montjuïc. Sónar By Day takes place over 4 stages (SonarVillage by Estrella Damm, SonarHall, SonarDôme and SonarComplex), all of which have increased capacities in their new locations in the Fira Montjuïc area in Plaça d'Espanya. The new Sónar by Day is significantly nearer Sónar by Night, which is still at its usual venue in the Fira Gran Via area in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, and consolidates its four-stage format, (SonarClub, SonarLab, SonarPub and SonarCar, located next to the bumper cars). With the festival's shuttle buses, the two sites are now only 10 minutes apart.

Sónar By Day usually starts around Midday and continues until around 10pm for each of the three days of the festival. This part of the festival features live bands, DJs, multimedia art, record/clothes stalls, demonstrations, a cinema, and other activities. Sónar by Night showcases DJs, VDJs and live entertainment.
