Dave Grohl, lead singer of this summer's Reading and Leeds Festival headliners Foo Fighters has now confirmed the band are taking a break. However a spokesperson for the band has told MTV News, (click here), that "They are definitely not breaking up."

The band have just completed touring their seventh studio album, 'Wasting Light', and have already hinted at the hiatus this summer at Reading Festival, when Grohl said the show was "The last show of the tour and it's the last show for a long time." He has now confirmed the news in front of American fans at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park last weekend.

Before performing 'Learn To Fly' Grohl said, "Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this. This is it, man. This is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can in a short period of time, because, honestly, I don't know when we're gonna do it again and this is the perfect place to do it, right now, tonight."

Last night MTV News spoke to their publicist who released the statement that they are definitely not breaking up, but that they would be taking a break. After the statement Grohl made at Reading Festival he tweeted, "Relax ... I was talking TO England ABOUT England ... stop eavesdropping Internets!"

No acts have been announced yet for next year's twin festivals which take place on the bank holiday weekend, from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th August. Reading Festival takes place at Little Johns Farm, Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire, and Leeds Festival takes place at Bramham Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Early bird tickets for next year's Reading and Leeds are on sale now priced at £197.50. An early entry (Thursday) ticket are priced at £15. Over 18's wristband will be optional, but allow those that look young to not have to carry ID around all the time. Day tickets, lockers and campervan passes will be available at a later date.

Children under 13 (12 and under) are admitted free but MUST be accompanied by a ticket holding adult. Please note there is no separate children's area at this event, and eFestivals considers this an event not really suitable for small children.
