Following the collapse of venue London Pleasure Gardens the planned home of Europe's largest FREE celebration of Latin American culture Carnaval del Pueblo has confirmed it will still happen on Sunday 18th August 2012 as a scaled down event at a new location.

The event's Facebook group (here) has issued the following statement:
"Carnaval del Pueblo regrets to announce that it has very recently been informed that The London Pleasure Gardens has gone into administration and that this year's event cannot take place at this venue.

Despite Carnaval del Pueblo seeking comfort from London Pleasure Gardens for nearly a month that the promised facilities would be ready and the site safe for the event, London Pleasure Gardens has waited until less than 3 weeks before our event to make this announcement.

This late decision is dreadful and the Carnaval del Pueblo team feels complete dismay that LPG's actions will lead to such disappointment to our loyal supporters and stakeholders.

However, we are empowered and energised by the sympathy and support from the GLA and The Arts Council and are close to announcing a new venue where we will hold an indoor event on the 18th of August – the tickets will be available shortly on line. We are heart broken and 'gutted' as you will all understand but devoted to delivering the best Latino event in London on the 18th with our already contracted artists. Rest assured, a beautiful, scaled down event will take place
."
The event was forced into taking a year off last year and has a billed line-up that sees 19 Latin American countries represented, 3 Stages & 2 Tents, 11 Hours of Festivities . The special guests included Fulanito (Dominican Republic) - Merengue, Reggaeton and Bachata star; Tato Marenco - Salsa and Cumbia star (Colombia); Oi Brazil - Samba and Capoeria shows and many more bands. This free Latino festival is expected to run all day from 10am until 9.30pm, with exciting acts on different stages, and other activities for all the family.

The event was set to feature an International stage, Brazilian stage, Andean countries stage, Reggaeton and Latin Hip Hop stage, Funfair, Children's area, a wide range of Latin American, Caribbean and Western food and drinks, traditional crafts and Authentic Latin carnival spirit all around.
