With just over three weeks to go until the gates of Bloodstock Open Air air open, they have announced that Malefice will be bringing their blend of thrash, death and power grove metal to the main 'Ronnie James Dio' stage.

The band's frontman Dale Butler said, "We're really proud to be called up for Bloodstock duty this year, and even more proud to be opening up the main stage for the festival. Everyone who's seen us live before knows we like to tear it up, so make sure you get up early and join us to kick off one of the biggest weekends of the Metal calender in style!."

Bloodstock Open Air festival will take place from Thursday 9th until Sunday 12th August at Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, in South Derbyshire. The aim is to offer a traditional metal event comparable to those regularly seen in Europe and capture the spirit of the original Monsters Of Rock shows which used to take place at Castle Donington during the 1980's and 1990's.

The festival will have exclusive performances from Friday headliner Behemoth, Saturday's Machine Headl, and Sunday headliner Alice Cooper. Plus Deicide, Sanctuary, Grand Magus, Nile, Mayhem, The Black Dahlia Murder, Dimmu Borgir, Hatebreed, Corrosion Of Conformity, Anaal Nathrakh, Watain, Paradise Lost, Anvil, Orange Goblin, and Doomed also confirmed.

The main stage line-up is now fully announced and the bill is nearly complete, but there is one more announcement to come in the shape of the Jagermeister acoustic stage, details of which will be revealed very shortly.
