Media Dreamspace comes to Larmer Tree Festival

Salisbury Arts Centre have teamed up with Larmer Tree Festival to bring the Media Dreamspace to the event which takes place from Wednesday 11th to Sunday 15th July 2012 at Larmer Tree Gardens.

The area is designed to inspire creativity and offer festival-goers the chance to immerse themselves in a media dream world, with filmmaking, animation, broadcasting and more. The new area will be located near the Flag Circle in The Village, and will offer a full programme of drop-in workshops and interactive performances, which will enable people to explore a world of imagination through media tools, and get to grips on with high-tech gadgets or join the space's Roving Reporter team.

Julia Safe, Co-Director of Lamer Tree Festival, said, "We have a great, longstanding relationship with Salisbury Arts Centre including most recently having programmed the music for their Acoustic Cafe gigs. And, now we're extremely pleased to be welcoming their creative team to Larmer Tree for the first time, it promises to be a brilliant hotbed of media activity - we can't wait to drop by and see what's going on!"

The Media Dreamspace Tent will be open from 12pm to 6pm on Thursday to Sunday and will feature things to divert people's attention for a few minutes and others to keep them amused for hours. Organisers promise something for all ages and abilities to get involved in. There will also be a video diary booth for festival-goers to share their Larmer Tree experiences, and screenings of all the footage and material being generated as fast as the onsite media people can edit it ready for projection.

Simon Morris, Salisbury Arts Centre's Media Dreamspace Programmer, added, "We are very excited to be part of the Larmer Tree experience and we hope this year's Media Dreamspace will surprise and stimulate festival-goers."

The Media Dreamspace is part of a bursting programme of entertainment from colourful street theatre to exciting shows and workshops for the whole family to enjoy. And of course there's an eclectic music and great comedy line-up.

Festival regular Jools Holland and the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra returns to kick-start the festival on Wednesday as is traditional with his extra special guest to be announced in the new year. Friday's headliner has been announced as folk rockers and firm festival favourites Levellers. Saturday's headliners are Amadou & Mariam. Sunday is headlined by Roots Manuva. Tim Minchin will be headlining this year's comedy line-up on Thursday night performing on the main stage.

Also announced are The Imagine Village, Caravan Palace, The Correspondents, Gabrielle Aplin, By The Rivers, Mother Ukers, Edward II, Vintage Trouble, Akala, Hip Hop Shakespeare Company, Shlomo, Otis Gibbs, Smerins Anti-Social Club, and Vid Warren, Tom Short, Morning Rush, Raghu Dixit, Fatoumata Diawara, Boat To Row, Ali Warren, Fearne, Keston Cobblers Club, The Lasting Days, Thomas Ford, Red Sky July, and The Wishbones, DJ Derek, Jason Ringenberg, The Urban Folk Quartet, The Wave Pictures, Crowns, Rachel Sermanni, Keston Cobblers Club, Still Moving DJs, Dub Pistols, Dizraeli and the Small Gods, Churchfitters, Belinda O'Hooley & Heidi Tidow, BARD, Cahalen Morrison & Eli West, and JP Cooper.

An adult weekend ticket is priced at £190 for all 5 days, £165 for 4 days, and £140 for 3 days, there are Youth (age 11-17), and Child (age 5-10) options also available. Day tickets are priced from £36 to £60 dependant on day. Larmer Tree ticket prices include free parking and camping for tents, caravans and campervans and under 5's are free. The ticket price includes camping for the night(s) of the date(s) of a ticket.
