Lightning Seeds, and 3 Daft Monkeys lead the first acts confirmed for this September's new look Acoustic Gathering.

This year the Acoustic Gathering expands to two days, with a Saturday evening concert in order to subsidise the ticket price of Sunday, held in Peasholm Park, Scarborough in North Yorkshire on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September 2012.

It was previously a free event typically hosted on the second Sunday in September to mark the end of the summer season. Since 2006 when the first Acoustic Gathering took place, the main focus of the event has been to showcase local musicians alongside nationally and internationally renowned artists.

90's brit-pop band Lightning Seeds will headline the Peasholm Park bandstand in an evening performance alongside special guests Chris Helme (Seahorses and The Yards) and local act Mark Stanley & The Field Notes on Saturday.

The organisers decided to put on the Saturday evening concert in order to subsidise the ticket price of Sunday, which will be similar in style to previous Acoustic Gatherings. Topped by 3 Daft Monkeys, the line-up for that days also includes John Huthinson & The Sultans Of Thwing, and Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts, with many more still to be announced.

The Acoustic Gathering team said, "We intend to close the 100th anniversary celebrations of Peasholm Park with a show that people will never forget. We're really pleased that The Lightning Seeds have chosen us for a rare acoustic performance. This is going to work superbly with our Sunday headliner, 3 Daft Monkeys and all the other artists we've booked."

The AG team have been working flat out to make sure this year's festival goes ahead, following the perfect storm of funding crises, licensing issues and the extra conditions demanded by the Police for this year's event.

"The groundwork has been laid for any future events we get involved in. This has been a demanding yet exciting time for us" said Steve Dickinson. "It's a real privilege to be able to put Acoustic Gathering on in such a stunning location but it's also a massive responsibility to get it right. We see it as great way of promoting the town and we hope to be recognised as a must attend date on the festival calendar."

Tickets for Saturday are priced at £15. Tickets for all day Sunday are priced at £5 with children aged under 12 free. Tickets will be on sale online or in person from Mojo's Music Café on Victoria Road, Scarborough from 10am on Tuesday 12th June.
