Africa Express Sound System, Dry The River, Spector, and Howler lead the first acts for The Great Escape which features international and UK pop, cutting edge, hip hop, electronic, and rock acts showcased at venues all over Brighton. The dates for 2012 are confirmed as Thursday 10th until Saturday 12th May 2012.

Brighton's The Great Escape
As in previous years, a small number of shows will also take place at The Dome in Brighton, this year Africa Express Sound System will appear on Saturday 12th May. To ensure guaranteed access any of the separate Brighton Dome Shows, attendees can top up their 3 day festival ticket for just £7 per show, or purchase separate Brighton Dome Show tickets priced at £18.50. Joining them will be We Are The Ocean, Friends, Zulu Winter, Grimes, DZ Deathrays, Nils Frahm, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Jamie N Commons, Django Django, Eagulls, Perfume Genius, and Com Truise.

Other acts confirmed today include Alt-J, When Saints Go Machine, Sonic Boom Six, Francois & The Atlas Mountains, Bos Angeles, Young Dreams, Doldrums, Weird Dreams, Mujeres, Young Magic, Max Cooper, The British Expeditionary Force, Jinja Safari, Wim, and College.

Also heading for the Brighton bash will be Graphics, Slow down, Molasses, mojoFURY, Mallory Knox, Hawk Eyes, Peace, Yukon Blonde, Emma Louise, Juveniles, Mesparrow, Binary, Sing Tank, The Soft, Karlmarx, Inland Sea, Half Moon Run, Owlle, Princess Chelsea, Seward, Stranded Horse, Avalanche City, Furguson, Trust, The Darcys, Me and The Bees, and Jordan Cook.

They are the first of 300+ bands who will be announced in total, performing in more than 30 venues spread across Brighton over the course of three days. For the line-up details as available please click here.

Festival programmer Natasha Haddad said, "It feels great to be announcing such amazing acts right off the bat, and there's plenty more artists of all genres to come. This is a really exciting year for new music and for TGE, and we're fortunate to be able to showcase some of the greatest talent worldwide."

The venues are all a close walk from each other with each venue equipped to an international showcase standard. This year's partner country has not yet been confirmed.

As well as the live music, there's also a number of "Parkinson" style interviews with luminaries from the world of Music and Media, to show the way in which success is achieved, as well as educational panels, workshops and networking sessions.
