Bellowhead lead first acts for Towersey 2012

Bellowhead lead the first acts to be announced for the 48th Towersey, the major folk arts festival, returning over the Bank Holiday weekend of Thursday 23rd to Monday 27th August 2012.

They are joined on the bill by Kathryn Tickell, Donal Lunny, Padraig Rynne and Sylvain Barou, Edward II, Martin Simpson Trio, Peatbog Faeries, Abigail Washburn, Nic Jones, Roy Bailey, Session A9, Old Man Luedecke, Esquisse, and Roddy Woomble.

The festival will also host Alistair Anderson, Pilgrims Way, Jess and Richard Arrowsmith, Jake Jones & Dan Eccles, Irrintzi Dantza Taldea, Peeping Tom, Debs Newbold, John Kirkpatrick, Gavin Davenport, Belinda O'Hooley & Heidi Tidow, and Merry Hell.

Plus The Ian McMillan Orchestra, Jon Boden, Whapweasel, Brass Monkey, Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo, The Melrose Quartet, Will Pound & Dan Walsh, Old Swan Band, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan, Jamie Smith's Mabon, Hekety, and Jez Lowe with many more still to be announced.

The festival features a professional programme of folk and roots music, ceilidhs, international dance teams, family entertainers, workshops and a Children's Festival which incorporates entertainment, music, puppetry, circus skills and craft workshops.

The 3 stages spread across the Showground will feature dance displays, music, comedy, magic, puppetry, clowning and storytelling with numerous other stages in other locations around the village too. Musical and comic walkabouts will wander the Showground with stiltwalkers, jugglers and street theatre throughout the weekend. Plus activities from Yoga to Bop Around, through hands on Workshop learning to Concerts, Ceilidhs, and Club Sessions.

Early bird tickets available until 31st May inclusive, and are priced as follows:
5 nights and four days - Adult £104 (Camping £20 extra)
Adult Concession £98 (Camping £20 extra)
Youth (12-17yrs) £72 (Camping £10 extra)
Child (5-11yrs) £51 (Camping FREE)
Tickets for children aged under 5 are free - they must be ticketed
