Soundgarden have been confirmed for the Netherlands' Pinkpop Festival.

Chris Cornell and the Seattle rockers have announced they will tour for the first time outside of America since 1997. The band scored their biggest hit in 1994 with 'Black Hole Sun' from the album 'Superunknown' previously appeared at Pinkpop in 1992 but broke up in 1997. Singer Chris Cornell has appeared at Pinkpop since with his new band Audioslave (2003) and solo in 2009.

The only other act confirmed is Bruce Springsteen who with his band will be closing the festival on the main stage on the Monday night.

Pinkpop Festival is an annual rock festival held in the city of Landgraaf, 134 miles from Amsterdam, near the city of Heerlen and situated in the most South bound province of Limburg, Netherlands. It is held annually on the Whitsun weekend (Pinksteren in Dutch, hence the name), the 43nd edition will be held from Saturday 26th until Monday 28th May 2012.

The festival has a capacity of 60,000 and three days of music on three stages. Ticket prices have not yet been confirmed, expects around 150 euros, and tickets will go on sale on Saturday 3rd March 2012.
