80s New Wavers Bow Wow Wow are an unexpected addition to the line-up for next year's Rebellion punk festival which returns to Blackpool Winter Gardens from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th August 2012.

The band who are remembered for 'Go Wild in the Country,' and their cover of 'I Want Candy', were formed in London in 1980 by Malcolm McLaren from the line-up of Adam and the Ants and 14 year old singer Annabella Lwin, and they made four albums before their split in 1983. They reformed briefly in 1997 for a 4-month tour of America with new band members, again in 2003 to celebrate their 25th Anniversary, and again last year for a tribute concert for original guitarist Matthew Ashman, who had died of complications from diabetes in 1995.

Festival organisers say, "We're really excited to confirm that Bow Wow Wow will be appearing at next year's festival. Expect African and Latin infused rhythms from one of the front runners of the New Wave scene. Famously put together by Malcolm McLaren, the band soon established their own identity with their unique sound. Singer Annabella Lwin was just 14 years old when the band started – can't wait to see her perform in 2012 – A warm Rebellion welcome is assured – All together 'C30,C60,C90 GO!'."

They join Sunday headliners Rancid, plus The Only Ones, Citizen Fish, The Fits, Snuff, One Way System, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Sick on the Bus, The Beatlesons, Loaded 44, Dirt Box Disco, Peter and The Test Tube Babies, Deadline, DOA, Zero Boys, SNFU, Agnostic Front, Slaughter & The Dogs, The Slackers, Random Hand, Menace, Rust, The Blame, Gimp Fist, New Town Kings, Monkish, Foreign Legion, UK Subs, Argy Bargy, New Town Kings, Splodgenessabounds, Goldblade, Choking Susan, Section 5, Drongos For Europe, Fire Exit, HDQ, Pink Hearse, On Trial, TV Smith, and more.
