The original line-up of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, are all expected to be at the announcement of the major "special event" which according to website Noisecreep (here) will take place at Hollywood's Whisky A Go Go club the site of Black Sabbath's 1970 LA debut.
Earlier in the year, there were reports of the foursome holding "secret rehearsals", and plotting a new album and tour, though no announcement was made.
Lead singer Ozzy Osbourne told American music news site Billboard, (here), last month that a new Black Sabbath album was "a very, very strong possibility," adding, "It's in the very early stages, so we haven't recorded anything yet. If it works out, it'll work out. If it doesn't, I'll keep doing my thing."
The original line-up of Black Sabbath last got together at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2006,and appeared at Download Festival in 2005 when the festival first expanded to a three event and included an Ozzfest Day. Before that the 'Paranoid' band also appeared at Ozzfest at Milton Keynes in 2001, and have not released an album together since 1978's 'Never Say Die!'.
Whether the announcement is of new material, a tour, or a special event, fans will find out on Friday, and eFestivals will bring you news of what is announced then.
