More acts have been announced for the line-up of The Futureheads' guitarist Ross Millard curated Split Festival which takes place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September 2011 at Ashbrooke Sports Club, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.

Mystery Jets
Confirmed to appear on Saturday are Mystery Jets, The Rifles, Little Comets, Beth Jeans Houghton, Spector, Vinyl Jacket, The Generals Shields, Grandfather Birds, and James and the Wolf.

Whilst the new additions for Sunday's line-up are The King Blues, Dinosaur Pile Up, Ganglians, Tomahawks For Targets, Retriever, and Loudmouth.

They join a bill that includes The Drums, Dutch Uncles, BEAK>, and We Beat The System on Saturday, and The Charlatans, Frankie And The Heartstrings, Hyde & Beast, Leatherface, and The Dauntless Elite on Sunday.

The festival's line-up was picked by Ross Millard, from The Futureheads. Ross halong with the rest of The Futureheads and a selection of local experts, helps to organise Split Festival.

Ross said: "We're delighted to be able to reveal the rest of the Split Festival line up, for the main stage. Mystery Jets, The Rifles and The King Blues bring huge amounts of energy, power and fun to the main tent, with Dinosaur Pile Up's riffs and tautness matching the weirdness and eclecticism of Ganglians, Dutch Uncles and Hyde & Beast.

"Little Comets and Beth Jeans Houghton are two more of the North East's brightest lights and their recent successes warrant them both such significant slots on the line-up. Appearances from Vinyl Jacket, BEAK>, Grandfather Birds and Shields also prove that new music in the North-East is healthier than ever."

Additional fringe tents hosting comedians and acoustic artists will also be put in place, as well as the gourmet tent hosted by BBC Masterchef finalist Stacey Stewart providing Split's festival food.

Early bird tickets are on sale until 31st August priced at £35 for a weekend ticket, and £20 for a day ticket. To buy tickets, click here.

The third Split Festival is expected to be held under cover in a massive marquee at Ashbrooke Sports Club. It's main aim is to give a platform for North East musical talent. The event this year will be a true "Festival of Music" rather than a collection of gigs.
