This year's Rhythm Festival held over August bank holiday has added seminal Cream bassist, vocalist and songwriter Jack Bruce to its Saturday line-up.
Terry Reid (Jazzworld, Friday)

Cult singer Terry Reid will appear on Sunday; whilst US Blues legend Mud Morganfield (son and musical heir of the legendary Muddy Waters) will appear with his Dirty Aces on Friday.

Other acts confirmed today include psychedelic rockers Curved Air and firm festival favourites Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs appearing on Saturday. The Oli Brown Band and hotly-tipped Leeds acoustic-indie act Miranda Versus The Crok are also booked to appear over the weekend.

They join the previously announced Toots & The Maytals, Steve Cropper and The Animals, plus Oysterband, Sandi Thom, From The Jam, The Blockheads, The Burns Unit, Nine Below Zero, the recently reformed Slim Chance, Missing Andy, Parker & The Flowing Wow, abd Three Bonzos And A Piano.

Rhythm takes place at the Mansion House, Old Warden Park, near Biggleswade, in Bedfordshire from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August 2011.

Festival organiser Jim Driver said, "Although 2011 promised to be a difficult year with the country in economic turmoil, ticket sales are way beyond expectations and we've not even announced out full line-up yet. I think people will be very pleased and surprised to see who else we are lining up and I think our first sell-out is very much on the cards."

To celebrate the change of site and dates, the Rhythm Festival stages will be named after prominent local figures, including Biggleswade's own Charles Penrose (of "Laughing Policeman" fame) and Dan Albone (inventor of the modern tractor); as well as Bedford-born John Le Mesurier, star of countless films but best known for the part of Sergeant Wilson in "Dad's Army". The local community will be asked to nominate other local worthies to have the remaining stages named in their honour.
