Metallica have announced that they will be headlining the Sonisphere Festival for the second year.

Metallica
Last year Metallica headlined the UK leg of the festival and this time the veteran Californian metallers have confirmed, (here), that they will headline the Polish leg of the event happening at Bemowo Airport in Warsaw, Poland on Wednesday 16th June 2010.

Joining them will be Slayer, Anthrax, and Mastodon.

The announcement is as follows:
"We are now entering the June portion of the 'random tour announcement' derby and today's installment is one that is particularly exciting for us as we are proud to tell you that we will again be headlining the Sonisphere Festival, now embarking upon its second year in existence.

The first show of the travelling festival will be on June 16 at Bemowo Airport in Warsaw, Poland and joining us are some longtime friends . . . Slayer, Anthrax, and Mastodon!

Additional Sonisphere shows will be announced in the next week, and in the meantime you may even want to consider checking back here in a few hours for some more tour updates both in Europe and Latin America (hint, hint).
"
Tickets for the Polish leg will go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, December 10. All shows are general admission.

UK Sonisphere fans can expect an announcement at 6pm tonight on the first acts to be confirmed.
