Bad weather overnight has forced the cancellation of annual charity event Tommyfest, which was due to start today at Singleton, nr Blackpool, Lancashire, and continue until Sunday.

Speaking exclusively to eFestivals, one of the organisers Graham Moore told us that heavy rain overnight has left both the car park and arena under standing water, making the running of the event dangerous.

On top of that, strong winds have damaged some of the marquees that had been put up on the site, leaving no time for them to be made servicable before the festival was due to open later today.

Mr Moore informs us that the event is insured for this sort of disaster, and while a decision on what the festival does has yet to be taken, ticket holders will either get a refund or their tickets will be valid for a rescheduled event at a later time.

The event had planned to raise money for Trinity Hospice & local palliative care services.

We're informed that Tommyfest ticket holders should keep their eyes on the Tommyfest website, which will be updated with further information when it becomes available.
