Blind Guardian, Cradle Of Filth have been announced as Saturday's joint headliners at Bloodstock Open Air.

After Blind Guardian's unfortunate cancellation in 2007, the organisers of Bloodstock have brought the band back to Bloodstock to play alongside Cradle Of Filth. The pair have been confirmed as co-headlining the Saturday of the festival and the event will mark the only UK shows of 2009 for both bands.

Blind Guardian mainman Hansi Kürsch says on the Bloodstock website, "It's almost seven years since we played Bloodstock for the first time. Still we have never forgotten our first appearance in front of a fantastic British audience. Easy to imagine how thrilled we are by the chance to play there for a second time. I expect nothing but some outraging bards singing our songs with us and a band in perfect shape - take that for granted."

Bloodstock Open Air takes place from Friday 14th until Sunday 16th August at Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, South Derbyshire.

Bands so far confirmed for this year's Bloodstock Open Air include Saxon, Candlemass, Sabaton, Satyricon, Wintersun, Turisas, Katatonia, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, and The Haunted. For the latest line-up details and rumours as available please click here.

As well as the international heavy metal bands across three stages, Bloodstock offers a large selection of merchandise stalls, metal karaoke, a campsite and a wide selection of food and bars.

Tickets are on sale priced at £99.95 for adults and £44.95 for children. To buy tickets, click here.
