Rokia Traore has been unveiled as the Saturday headliner at this year's Larmer Tree Festival.

The award-winning international African singer-songwriter will headline Larmer Tree Festival on Saturday 18th July. The Malian artist has received critical acclaim since her debut album 'Mouneïssa' was released back in 1998. Her latest album, 'Tchamantché', received the 'Victoires de la Musique', the French equivalent of the Grammy Award, for Best World Album in February this year and is nominated for the prestigious Songlines award for Best World Music Artist.

A mesmerising, atmospheric, and absorbing live performer. Her instrumentation is often sparse, contrasting her guitar playing with subtle percussion effects provided by human beat box and hip-hop artist Sly Johnson, or the n'goni, a the tiny, sharp-edged West African lute that has always been an integral part of her sound, that is played alongside the Western classical harp.

This is a chance to see the World music star in a rare UK appearance. James Shepard (Co-Director of the festival) stated, "I've wanted Rokia to play Larmer Tree Festival for sometime, I feel her performance on the Saturday of the festival this year is a real coup especially at this extremely exciting time in her career. She really is something special!"

Larmer Tree happens from Wednesday 15th until Sunday 19th July at Larmer Tree Gardens, on the Wilts./Dorset border.
