The Canadian singer whose career spans more than four decades will be joined on the bill by Fleet Foxes, Ben Harper & Relentless7, Seasick Steve, and The Pretenders.

One of the most influential artists in American music Neil Young is set to release his much-anticipated new album 'Fork In TheRoad' on Monday 6th April on Warner Music.

Chrissie Hynde, singer of The Pretenders who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 by Neil Young himself said of her appearance on the bill with him at Hard Rock Calling, "We would play a garden shed to be on a bill with Neil Young but Hyde Park – summer – with 'The Loner'. This is what makes a thousand hours on tour buses all worthwhile. This is why people get in bands."

Sean Dee, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Hard Rock International, said, "We're thrilled with the addition of Neil Young to the Hard Rock Calling line-up and are excited that Sunday's headlining concert, featuring Bruce Springsteen, sold out immediately. As one of the UK's most anticipated summer concert events and the kick off of Hard Rock's 2009 Ambassadors of Rock Tour, we expect this event to make rock 'n' roll history."

Hard Rock Calling takes place in Hyde Park, London on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June and is presented by Hard Rock International, and is close to the original Hard Rock Cafe on Old Park Lane, which opened in 1971 and continues to serve guests from all over the world every day. The event features a main stage, second stage and "many surprises in store for music and festival fans of all ages".

Tickets will be on sale from 9am Friday 13th March 2009, priced at £45. We'll have links to buy when on sale.

Sunday's headliner is Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band with support from Dave Matthews Band, and The Gaslight Anthem, tickets for Sunday have already sold out.
